Toby Dan Wymore, 38, of Gladstone, Mo., passed away December 18, 2008. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. on Monday, December 22, at Mount Moriah Terrace Park Funeral Home, with visitation 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Internment at Leavenworth National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Dream Factory. Toby was born July 9, 1970, in Wichita, Kan. He was a graduate of Oak Park High School in 1988 and was a Marine veteran during Desert Storm. Toby lived in the Gladstone and Kansas City North area most of his life. Survivors include his daughter McKenna Wymore; mother and stepfather, Patsy and Jack Ferguson; father and stepmother, Danny and Barbara Wymore; grandmother Vera Chitwood; sisters Rhonda Sorensen, Megan Wymore; brothers Troy, Joshua, and Aaron Wymore; stepsisters Shelly Ferguson, Libby Vedder; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Directions from nearest airport:
Cemetery is located in Southeast Leavenworth. From Kansas City International Airport, take Interstate 29 North 7.5 miles to Platte City exit 20. Turn left and proceed through Platte City to Highway 92 and turn West for 8.5 miles. After crossing the bridge into Leavenworth turn left on Highway’s 73 and 7. Travel four miles to Highway 5 (Muncie Road) and proceed .5 miles. The cemetery is on your left.

We are all very saddened to hear of the passing of our brother, Toby D. Wymore.  Toby was full of life, energy and had a compassion and devotion for the Marine Corps unlike anyone I've ever seen.  Anyone who visits this site should know that it was Toby's idea to start it; and anyone who knew him knows that he had a true desire to keep in contact with his fellow veterans and support active duty Marines, both home and abroad.  Toby was planning to deploy to Iraq in January 2009 and had worked around the country for several years helping communities heal from disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods.  He will be greatly missed by his Marine Corps brothers, as well as his family and friends.  Toby was very outgoing and easily made new friends; but more importantly he enjoyed keeping up with old friends as well.  I always enjoyed talking to Toby and will greatly miss his him, his laughter and his dedication.  - Gene Davis, Webmaster

Gene,
I just received this and can't express how low I feel about Toby's death.  In my eyes, all of the Marines in C Co are 18-22 years old drinking beer in the P.I. or driving in our LAVs in the desert of Saudi Arabia.  Toby's image is especially clear in my mind when he dressed up as Santa Claus and went around the camp bringing cheer to everyone.  As this Christmas comes 17 years later, I always think of that skinny ass kid with the ear to ear grin talking to everyone and keeping up our motivation when separation from family and friends weighed on our minds.
 
I am saddened I didn't see this e-mail sooner so I could have sent flowers or signed the obituary remembrance in time for the funeral.  Take care my friend, S/F Tom Protzeller

I remember Wymore most, during Desert Storm when we were strategically positioned

behind the earthen berm. Wymore use to run up the berm to the other side and yell very loud

cussing out Allah, in hopes that the enemy across the minefield can hear. It certainly was hilarious.

Wymore always knew the best time to give our crew and platoon a good laugh when we needed it most.  

 

I am deeply saddened with the news of his tragic death. I am all for sending his family some money to help cover the funeral expense. Hopefully others from Charlie Company will contribute as well. Maybe you can set up a fund where we can send money to and then send the combined amount from everyone from Charlie Company.

Toby,     I was truly blessed early this spring when you happened to find me in Fort Payne Al.   The time we spent kayaking in Little River Canyon will always be cherished deeply. I will never forget working in Texas on Hurricane Ike. You were one of my truly best friends in the world!! I will never forget you!!   SEMPER FI MY BROTHER!!
